Arlington - Police are investigating the deaths of 4 year old twin boys who drowned Tuesday night in their grandmother's pool. Their preliminary investigation has led them to believe that the deaths were an accident, and not a result of negligence.
The boys' father pulled them out of the pool before officers arrived, NBCDFW reports.
Paramedics performed CPR on the boys, Luke and Mark Nguyen, before rushing them to the Medical Center of Arlington. Both boys were pronounced dead upon arrival.
Huong Nguyen, the boys' mother. explained to News 8 that the boys' grandmother has diabetes so they went with their father to check on her.
The father of the boys told police that he was checking on his mother, and within about 10 minutes, the boys had snuck out in the backyard/pool area, the NY Daily News reports.
Mrs. Nguyen said her husband noticed almost immediately, and pulled the boys out of the pool. They were still alive, but unresponsive, WFAA reports.
The pool is surrounded by an iron fence, NBC 5 reports. Police are unclear as to whether the gate was secure and the boys managed to open it or if the gate was open.
Neighbors of the Nguyens commented that the parents were extremely attentive to their kids. The couple also has a 1-year old.
The NY Daily News reports that autopsies for the boys are scheduled for later this week.
