The incident took place on Friday in Govan, Glasgow, according to sources
. The girl was walking back from the grocery store when the incident took place.
Police officers said that the man ran off after he struck the girl. Officers said that the man took off towards the direction of Drumoyne.
According to Scottish Daily Record
, members of the public tend to the girl while they contacted police. She was brought to Yorkhill Hospital via an ambulance. There she received treatment for her head.

, police are asking for witnesses to step forward. Scott McMillan, detective inspector of Helen Street CID, said that the attack was unprovoked and all the young girl was trying to do was make it back home from the shop.
McMillan also said that they are doing all that they can to try to figure out who is responsible for the attack. The man responsible for the attack is being described as someone who was wearing a grey tracksuit and who seemed drunk.
