article imageGerman Bild complains Greek soccer players swear, smoke and sing

By Katerina Nikolas     Jun 22, 2012 in Sports
Gdansk - A reporter from the anti-Greek German tabloid Bild took a room in a frugal Warsaw hotel where the national Greek football team is staying, in order to spy on their habits.
Comparing himself to James Bond the journalist from the paper the Greek press refers to as the "most yellow newspaper," pretended to be a dentist as he checked into the Warszawianka-Hotel where the Greek team is staying. He noted the Greeks opted for a "frugal choice" paying 93 euros per day according to Gr.Reporter.
The German produced his scathing article entitled “Trojan BILD-spy in Hotel of the Greeks: they swear, they smoke, they sing”. He took exception to the team habits, writing "they drink coffee, wear shorts and have mobile phones.
To the amusement of the whole of Greece the reporter mistakenly transanslated the Greek swear word he took exception to captain Giorgos Karagounis using, as he writes "He keeps telling the word 'Malaka'. A Greek friend tells me, Malakas means 'Kiss my ass' in German." In reality the word malaka is a fitting description of the German reporter.
