After recovering from kidney surgery, American Idol's eleventh season winner Philip Philips is set to perform at the Washington D.C.’s National Mall for the Fourth of July celebrations.
According to
Americanidolnet.com, Philips will be joined by country singer Josh Turner, actress and singer Megan Hilty, actor and Broadway star Matthew Broderick and other performers.
It will be Philip's first performance after recovering from his kidney surgery. The 21-year-old singing sensation from Leesburg, Georgia, will perform his hit single
“Home” before a huge crowd in attendance during the celebrations.
“It’s probably the biggest thing I’ve ever done besides
American Idol," Phillip said. “I’m just excited to get out there and do my first real live performance since everything that’s been going on.”
Two days after the Fourth of July celebrations, the top 10 finalists of
American Idol's eleventh season, led by Philips, will do a series of concerts nationwide, which will debut on July 6 in Detroit.
Aside from Philips, others in the top 10 joining the tour include; DeAndre Brackensick, Jessica Sanchez, Elise Testone, Skylar Laine, Heejun Han, Hollie Cavanagh, Joshua Ledet, Erika Van Pelt and Colton Dixon.
American Idol judge Steven Tyler is reportedly performing with his band
Aerosmith, on July 5 at the Palace of Auburn Hills, one day prior to the "Idol" show,
