Santos takes pictures for the New York Daily News
and claims he merely called out to Baldwin when the actor attacked his co-worker, photographer Jefferson Siegel. The two claim Baldwin swore at, shoved and tried to grab the camera of Siegel and that neither of them did anything to provoke the alleged attack.
“I said, ‘Don’t touch him. Then he came right after me. I knew he was going to attack; I stepped back, and he kept coming," Santos,42, told News reporters Janon Fisher and Larry McShane. “He...starts shoving and punching me, one time, right in the chin. He lunged at me like raging bull.”
30 Rock star Baldwin with fiancee
Baldwin, 54, who was with his fiancee, Hilaria Thomas, 28 (the two are to wed June 30), tweeted
about the incident later and his version wasn't entirely in-line with the version of Santos, Siegel and other photographers who were there.
"A ‘photographer’ almost hit me in the face with his camera this morning.” he tweeted, making an allusion to the tragic death of teenager Trayvon Martin in Florida last February. “I suppose if the offending paparazzi was wearing a hoodie and I shot him, it would all blow over.” On Tuesday night, on 'The Charlie Rose Show,' Baldwin denied throwing a punch.
It is the third time the star of TV's '30 Rock' has had a run-in with photographers in his lengthy career. The NYPD has responded to a complaint by Santos and said they informed the District Attorneys office and will be investigating.
