This video shows a baby and a young chimp playing at the zoo, both aping one other through a glass partition. The baby and his mother were sitting by the chimpanzee enclosure when the two-year-old chimp joined them for a little fun.
Daily Mail reports the boy is six-month-old Preston, visiting the Sedgwick County zoo, in Wichita.
Preston and two-year-old chimp Mabusu, amused visitors as they played baby games through the glass window. They imitate each other through the glass. The video shows Preston laughing while playing with the chimp.
According to The Sun, Cindy said, "The monkey was hitting the glass really hard, but it made it adorable because of the way they were interacting. When we left, the monkey got depressed, so everyone told us to come back."
ABC7 reports Cindy said: "I felt that it was necessary for us to leave so the other kids can actually interact, and when we did, unfortunately the little monkey did get depressed so everybody was like, 'Come back over!'"
So Cindy brought Preston back and Mabusu got animated again. The two friends played a little longer.
According to ABC7, chimp and orangutan keeper Devin Bailey, thinks Mabusu was happy to have a young person to play with because the chimp nearest him in age is his 15-year-old sister who is too old to fool around. The Sun reports that Bailey said: “He (Mabusu) enjoys interacting with the public. He loves to play and it’s always good seeing him interacting with others.”
