Chris Piper, a Winnipeg window washer, was in critical condition on Wednesday after falling eight floors and smashing through a glass solarium.
The Winnipeg Free Press reports that Piper did not break any bones, but will need knee surgery.
Witnesses say that the fall was most likely broken by the glass solarium.
According to The Toronto Star, Piper was covered in blood and glass but remained awake when emergency personnel showed up.
The Huffington Post reports that Piper had a safety net and a safety harness when the incident occurred. The window washing company, Class A Service, has never had a similar accident.
Workplace Safety and Health officials are investigating the incident.
