Say it ain't so. A new advertising technologies company has developed a way to allow commercial video ads to be displayed on public restroom mirrors.
Ever wonder where to go for lunch, or what kind of new jeans you want to buy while washing your hands in a public restroom? Well if you have, help may be on its way.
A company named Novo Ad has recently developed technology to turn a seemingly ordinary bathroom mirror into a advertisers dream.
Actually, the mirrors are really LED screens equipped with an internal hard drive and as put by a company spokesman, run by "very sophisticated proprietary software."
The promotional video shows how the device might work. In the promo, a young women sees an advertisement video as it covers the entire mirror, however, as she moves closer the video is reduced in size to allow her to use the majority of the mirror while still able to view the ad.
The company says on its website that it hopes to install its mirrors in shopping malls, exhibitions, department stores, airports, hotels, stations and cinemas world wide.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Novo Ad has already installed the mirrors in public restrooms in Tel Aviv and later this month expects to install more in Carrefour mall in northern France.
As far as talking mirrors appearing in the U.S. any time soon, that seems to be still up in the air.
"We are looking for advertising networks and partners in the USA" said Steven Harris, spokesman for Novo Ad. "We would like to be there as soon as possible."
