Dr. Creflo Dollar Jr., renowned megachurch pastor, was arrested early Friday for allegedly choking and punching his 15-year-old daughter, local media is reporting.
Atlanta's Fox 5 News says that Fayette County deputies arrested the 50-year-old popular prosperity pastor at his home on Sandy Creek Road and booked into the Fayette County jail at 2 a.m. A judge set Dollar's bond at $5,000 during a morning hearing.
According to the police report from the Fayette County Sheriff's Office, WXIA-TV Atlanta writes, Dollar's daughter called police to say that her father attacked her after they argued about whether the daughter could attend a party.
The arrest warrant alleges Dollar "intentionally caused physical harm to his teenage daughter by grabbing her around the neck and choking her," Fox 5 News reports.
WXIA-TV adds that besides choking his daughter, he then threw her to the ground, punched her and hit her with his shoe. The responding officer noticed a scratch on the daughter's neck near her throat; the daughter said her father gave her the scratch during the fight.
When police interviewed Dollar, WXIA writes, he said he tried to restrain his daughter when she "became very disrespectful" after he told her she couldn't go to the party, according to the report.
Dollar admitted to spanking his daughter and wrestling her to the floor, but said it was "because she hit him."
Reverend Dollar is the founder and senior pastor of World Changers Church, a mega church headquartered in College Park that generates tens of millions of dollars each year. The church has nearly 30,000 members and includes satellite campuses in 10 cities.
Creflo Dollar has prospered over the course of his 30 years in ministry, the Christian Post writes, with his Changing Your World telecast reaching over a billion homes across the globe, according to his website.
