Tom Jones will tour Israel later on in the year. His last performance in Israel, was in 1997, in the southern tourist resort of Eilat.
According to Tourist Israel, Sir Tom Jones, one of the most successful and popular singers of his generation and famous for his sexy performances, will swoon Israeli audiences once again in 2012.
As the Guardian states, the Welsh singer from Pontypridd, Sir Thomas Jones Woodward, KBE, who celebrated his 72nd birthday yesterday, started off his career singing with Tommy Scott and the Senators in the 60s, performing in men’s clubs and dance halls.
His first single ‘It’s not unusual’ was refused play by BBC radio in 1964. Fortunately, DJs on the pirate radio ship, Radio Caroline heard the potential, snapped it up and Tom’s record shot to number one.
With close to forty Top 40 hits in the UK and nineteen in the USA, over 100 million record sales, a brand new album, Spirit in the Room, a European Tour and a trip to Israel, Tom Jones' 40-year-long show biz life is still going strong.
