While "American Idol" runner-up Jessica Sanchez is enjoying her overnight popularity as she gets mobbed in New York by adoring fans, this season's winner Philip Philips is still recovering from the six-and-a-half-hour kidney surgery.
The 21-year-old guitar playing sensation from Leesburg, Georgia is now recovering from surgery to remove kidney stones that have been bothering him during his performances in the past season of American Idol series.
“Surgery went well, he’s resting and will be ready for the Idol tour kick off in July!,”according to Americanidolnet.com.
Meanwhile, Sanchez has reportedly been mobbed by adoring fans in New York as she made a series of appearances on top-rating TV shows including Live! with Kelly and Today Show.
In an interview after guesting and singing some of her winning songs in New York TV stations, Sanchez said she's excited but exhausted as well after her non-stop appearances on New York's popular shows.
“It has not sunk in yet, I still can’t believe I am here,” she told host Matt Lauer of the popular TV show.
“I’m exhausted but I’m also excited to do everything. It’s the adrenaline rush every single second,” she said smiling. “I never envisioned it to be like this but I knew that I was going to be very busy and always working. I don’t regret it.”
Earlier Sanchez performed before thousands of people during the PBS Memorial Day concert in Washington, D.C.
Sanchez is due to sing the National Anthem at the opening of the Manny Pacquiao vs. Timothy Bradley boxing match on Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
