Hotel guests, staff, local partners and dignitaries enjoyed a Champagne celebration at Hvar's leading Hotel Adriana on June 6, 2012, as Suncani Hvar's flagship establishment celebrated its fifth anniversary in an event covered by Digital Journal.
The reception was attended by Mayor Pjerino Bebic, who cut the birthday cake aided by new Adriana manager Renata Lichtberger. It took place at the newly opened Champagne corner in the Val Marina restaurant, where guests were served an array of canapes and cakes, as well as Champagne cocktails.
It has been quite a five years for the hotel, which is once again on the shortlist for leading boutique hotel resort in Europe at the prestigious World Travel Awards
, the so-called Oscars of the travel industry.
Part of the Suncani Hvar hotel group, the Adriana has risen from the ashes of the old Hotel Adriatic on Hvar's exclusive waterfront, after a multi-million euro investment from new owners Orco Group in 2005. The hotel opened on June 6, 2007, and has been rarely out of the awards ceremonies ever since.
In addition to its presence on the World Travel Awards shortlists every year since 2008, Adriana was also included in Fodor's Top 100 Hotels
in Europe in 2011, the 65 best new places to stay in the world (Conde Nast, 2008), Europe's coolest new hotel (Sunday Times, 2007), and a 2009 Grand Award Winner in the Andrew Harper's Hideaway Report.
The high quality refurbishment of Hotels Adriana, Riva and Amfora have been at the heart of the island's international success and raised profile as a more exclusive destination, and celebrities have been arriving in increasing numbers to explore one of the hottest destinations in the Adriatic. 2011 visitors included Giorgio Armani, Bernie Ecclestone and Roman Abramovich, while Prince Harry went for a swim in a Hvar nightclub and Beyonce chose the Hula Hula beach club to reveal her baby bump to the world.
