A judge in Madison County, Indiana sentenced Teen Mom Amber Portwood to 5 years in prison yesterday. The reality star was arrested on May 24 for failing a urine test as part of her drug court probation requirement.
According to CNN, Portwood pleaded guilty to a felony drug charge earlier this year, but avoided prison time with a deal to enter a drug treatment program. However, Portwood dropped out of the rehabilitation facility last month.
The Teen Mom and 16 and Pregnant star's legal troubles began in 2010 when she pleaded guilty to domestic violence charges against the father of her now 3-year-old daughter, for which Portwood received probation, reported Entertainment Weekly.
Portwood is likely to spend two-and-a-half years in prison and spend the reminder of her 5 year sentence on parole, according to CNN.
The final season of Teen Mom will be on MTV beginning on June 12. MSN reports that the show will air some of Portwood's troubles with the law.
