article imageNY Post poll: Casey Anthony is the most hated person in America

New York - According to an online poll hosted by the New York Post, Casey Anthony, the mother charged with the first-degree murder of her daughter Caylee in 2008, is the most hated person in America. Who else made the top ten list?
The Post's public poll, which amassed over 9,000 votes, followed the newspaper's own poll which placed John Edwards in first place and Anthony in third. Ironically, both Edwards and Anthony were acquitted of their crimes – Edwards on Friday (acquitted on one charge and mistrial on others), and Anthony in July 2011.
But if the poll proves anything, it is that despite a court's ruling, the public neither forgets nor forgives. Just like O.J. Simpson, who ranked 4th on the Post's list and 7th on the public list, Edwards may have cleared his name in court, but stuff sticks and good people obviously despise a perceived injustice.
Somewhat more amusing is how the public allotted their second slot to American socialite Kim
Kim Kardashian

Kardashian, probably just for existing. She almost rivaled Anthony's 19.8 percentage, receiving 17.3% of the public vote. Kardashian also placed ahead of Jerry Sandusky, the football coach arrested in 2011 and charged with over 40 counts of sexual abuse of young boys over a 15-year period. How flattering.
PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) doesn't like Kim too well either. The animals rights group criticized Kardashian in 2010 for repeatedly wearing fur coats and named her as one of the five worst people or organizations of 2010 when it came to animal welfare. But perhaps it was her marriage to Kris Humphries of the New Jersey Nets, touted as a publicity stunt by many, that finally dashed Kardashian in the end?
The disparity between the two polls is interesting. In fact the only two people that both polls allocated the same ranking to was Tiger Woods and Paris Hilton, awarded 9th and 10th spot respectively. Who else made the lists? Take a look:
The Post's Top Ten:
1. John Edwards
2. Bernie Madoff
3. Casey Anthony
4. O.J. Simpson
5. Mel Gibson
6. Jerry Sandusky
7. Kim Kardashian
8. Michael Moore
9. Tiger Woods
10. Paris Hilton

If there is any consolation for America's Most Hated People, only around 9,000 people voted all told – not exactly representative of America as a whole. Still, it must ring a few alarm bells for those that made the list? At least, one would hope so.
