An 80-year-old man in Japan has been arrested after confessing to the murder of his wife. He had concealed his crime by stashing her body in a freezer for 10 years.
Masaichi Yamada, the president of a small fish processing company used the company freezer to hide the corpse of his murdered wife whom he strangled after a fight at home. According to
Emirates 247 Yamada was arrested when the fully clothed copse was discovered in the freezer.
A police spokesman in Hokkaido revealed "The suspect maliciously strangled the victim with a string-like object at their home and abandoned her body in the freezer at his working place."
Yamada could not recall exactly when he disposed of his wife, saying it was "sometime between 2002 and 2006," meaning the corpse could have been frozen for up to 10 years.
The
Wall Street Journal reports that Yamada falls into a "growing group of graying criminals" as the rate of murders carried out by elderly offenders increases.
