Pop star Justin Bieber has been named as a suspect in a misdemeanour battery charge, TMZ has discovered. A California photographer claims Bieber attacked him today after the paparazzo tried to take his picture at a mall.
The alleged incident happened Sunday at noon at a shopping mall called The Common near Calabasas, California, where Bieber lives. He was reportedly there with his girlfriend Selena Gomez, when an unnamed photographer wanted to take his photo.
"According to law enforcement, some sort of physical altercation erupted between Justin and the camera guy," TMZ writes.
The photographer called 911 at some point, and when police arrived Bieber and Gomez had already left. Police are still looking to speak to Bieber.
The photographer complained of pain in his upper torso and was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was later released. TMZ includes a photo in their article on this altercation, showing Bieber without a shoe and looking agitated. It's unclear who the photographer works for or if he's freelance.
Bieber has been in California recently in order to seal the deal "on a $6.5 million mansion in the Californian suburb, where the Kardashian family also live," the Daily Mail writes.
The 10,000-square-foot home previously belong to Eddie Murphy's ex-wife Nicole.
