Apparently American rock legend Gregg Allman’s transplanted liver came with a new lease on life since the 64 year old is getting married for the seventh time -to a woman 40 years younger than him.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame alleged stoner has shared his plans to marry his 24-year-old girlfriend in several interviews this week, according to an ABC News report.
Allman, the Michael Phelps of nuptials, has apparently regained his stamina because the star’s publicist and manager confirmed on Friday that he plans to marry young - I mean really young - Shannon Williams.
During an Associated Press interview earlier this year Allman described the “unexpected love” he felt for Williams in an interview for a story about his memoir book, "My Cross to Bear." Some people might call that infatuation and Allman even admitted he was leery about taking the relationship further because of his “past difficulties” in romance and love. But Allman told Howard Stern, Piers Morgan and a SiriusXM town hall audience this week that he's taken the relationship to the next stage.
Paparazzi have not uncovered much about Williams save she met Allman following his liver transplant and a series of medical maladies. However the young bride to be told AP on Friday, Jan. 13, “I am totally in love.”
Failed marriages are the subject of most chapters in Allman’s book, “My Cross to Bear,” a best seller released on May 1 of this year. In it, the soulful crooner shares a narrative of his private life that outlines and details the beginning and bust of his relationship with Cher, among other memoirs from his life. Allman makes it clear that his past relationships still haunt him. Hmmm…clue for young fiancée?
Even more telling, Allman reportedly told AP that he “has a distrust of the institution of marriage and has been left with the feeling that few, if any, of his wives were actually deeply in love with him.”
It is unclear whether Allman has produced a gold-mounted rock for Williams and the date of Allman's coming nuptial was also unknown at press time.
