South Korea to castrate rapist

By Owen Weldon     May 24, 2012 in World
A repeat sex offender who has raped children will be chemically castrated in South Korea. This is the first time that the country will use the law that was recently implemented.
South Korea's Justice Ministry's Forensic Psychiatry Deliberation Committee has decided that they were going to adopt the measure after the rapist was very likely to prey on kids again.
According to GlobalPost, the rapist, known by his surname Park, is already considered to be a pedophile. The 44-year-old is currently in prison serving a 10-year sentence but he is due to be out in July. He went to prison for trying to rape a 10-year-old girl.
According to the Washington Post, Park will receive an injection on Friday. The injection will lower testosterone-suppressing hormones and it is suppose to inhibit sexual impulses.
According to The Times Of India, Park has been convicted of four rapes or attempted rapes on kids who were under the age of 13, between the years of 1984 and 2002.
The Justice Ministry Committee decides whether or not a chemical castration should be carried out on criminals who are over the age of 19, who commit or have committed crimes against people who are younger than 16.
