New York - Atlanta rapper 2 Chainz was arrested at LaGuardia Airport in New York Tuesday when Delta TSA officials thought they saw brass knuckles in his carry-on bag, and called the police. Turns out, according to TMZ, it was just a 4-finger ring.
2 Chainz, real name Tauheed Epps, was on his way to North Carolina to perform as part of Drake's "Club Paradise" Tour, Rap-Up.com reports. His "brass knuckles" were discovered by TSA officials who then called police to the scene, and the T.R.U. REALigion rapper was taken into custody for "misdemeanor possession of a criminal weapon."
Soon after news broke that the rapper was in custody, Detroit rapper Big Sean tweeted "2 Chainz ain't have no brass knuckles. It was a 4 finger ring that spelled 'Hood'. We had a shoot yesterday n he was rockin em."
TMZ later learned that 2 Chainz actually rocked the same ring at the Velvet Room, a club in Atlanta, Sunday.
He was finally released from custody Tuesday evening. He tweeted a picture of him boarding what looked to be a private jet at 10:43 PM. The tweet read "Fresh Out.com."
A few minutes later, he tweeted that he was headed to North Carolina.
According to Billboard, his debut album, "Based On A T.R.U. Story is set to be released August 14.
Most recently, he released "No Lie," featuring Drake. He also guest stars on Kanye West's "Mercy," Nicki Minaj's "Beez In The Trap," and Kreayshawn's "Breakfast (Syrup)."
The video for his song "Undastatement" was released early Tuesday before the airport incident occurred.
