At this time in his albeit still young career, Justin Bieber has been the winner of countless awards, in North America and beyond. But the 18-year-old Canadian seems to genuinely care for the awards like the one he won at the MGM Grand on Sunday.
He was up for five 2012 Billboard Music Awards on the night and won just the one, 'Top Social Artist', but it's the one he may covet most and his acceptance speech had the ring of someone honored to receive recognition for something of import. "I just want to say how much of a blessing it's been," he said. "The past three or four years, growing up in front of everybody. I want to thank all my fans, because the Internet is where I got my start, and all my fans have helped me get to this position."

Bieber went on to perform a massively energetic version of 'Boyfriend' from his upcoming album, 'Believe', to be released June 19. He also sat through not winning in the four other categories he was up for, including 'Top Male Artist' (won by Lil Wayne) and 'Top Pop Album' for his Christmas album 'Under the Mistletoe' (no surprise here, Adele won that for '21').
Recently named number 3 in Forbes' Top 100 Powerful Celebrities List, he's known for doing things that show how strong a social conscience he has. He's helped out a multitude of positive cause such as Pencils for Promise, the Children's Miracle Wish Foundation, anti-text and driving and anti-bullying campaigns. He recently gave a percentage of royalties from his song 'Turn to You' to a funding drive for a pregnant women's shelter in London, Ont., the same shelter his single mother spent time in while pregnant with him.
Bieber takes prom-girl to Billboards
In a move illustrating his caring, Bieber took Cady Eimer and her younger sister to the Billboards. Eimer is the girl from Virginia who created a website to get him to take her to her prom but wound up taking his cardboard cut-out instead when he didn't accept the invitation. He did send a video to her prom and at the end of it announced she and her sister would be coming to the awards show with him. After last night's experience, Eimer said she "had the time of my life."
The other performers nominated for the 'Top Social Artist' were Lady Gaga, Eminem, Rihanna and Shakira. Bieber also won the 'Top Social Artist' award in 2011 and he's now taken home 7 Billboard Music Awards.
