Dallas - A female shopper, in Dallas, Texas, was browsing items in Target department store when she was stabbed in the back by a male assailant. The butcher's knife used in the attack was taken from the kitchen wares department.
Martha Jones, 29, a lawyer based in Dallas, Texas was, at the Target store on Marsh Lane when the accused assailant Antowann Davis, 30, plunged a butcher's knife into her back without comment or warning. The knife was obtained by removing it from its protective packaging and location in the kitchen department.
Apparently Davis picked his victim at random and left the store after the attack while leaving the weapon behind. There was no motive or reason available at the time. He was arrested by police who were arriving at the scene.
5NBCDFW reports: “Shoppers outside the Target said they were surprised at the attack."You wouldn't expect it at Target," said one woman. "It's kind of scary."A Target spokesman did not immediately return a phone call late Friday seeking comment.”
Though the wound in the lower back generated a significant loss of blood Jones was able to identify her attacker. Davis was jailed and charged with aggravated assault charges, his bail was set at 25,000 dollars.
KCENTV repots: “A woman who answered the phone Friday afternoon at Jones' office said she was doing better. Jones is an associate at the prominent law firm Fish & Richardson.”
