According to The New York Times, although media reports said that Mary and Robert were estranged and that he filed for divorce in 2010, Mary's lawyer, Kerry A. Lawrence, said Wednesday that the two were not divorced. She had reportedly battled addictions to both.
"She was deeply troubled, abusing alcohol and prescription drugs," a close family friend said according to the NY Post. "She had cause. She was used up and tossed away by Bobby. That was awful."
Radar Online reports that according to a source close tot he situation, Robert did try to support Mary through her battles. He was there for her as a friend, but he moved on, and has reportedly been dating Curb Your Enthusiasm actress Cheryl Hines.
