Ever since returning to the WWE this past January, Chris Jericho has been in three straight championship main event matches from Elimination Chamber in February through WrestleMania 28 to Extreme Rules last month.
In those three matches this year, Jericho failed to capture the WWE Championship inside the Elimination Chamber match along with two singles matches against current champion CM Punk.
With his failures on the big stage, the WWE has posted an article on their website speculating that Jericho’s match this Sunday will be his last of his career at Over the Limit.
"Further, if Jericho fails to come away with the gold, will Over the Limit be the last time the WWE Universe ever sees the "Ayatollah of Rock n' Rollla" in the ring? Or can Jericho save his career with a huge win against three formidable opponents?
It makes sense for the WWE to be laying the groundwork for Jericho leaving the company as he’s set to rejoin his rock band, Fozzy, on tour this summer in support of their new album.
Even though unlikely Jericho will win the World Heavyweight title this Sunday, the WWE could have Y2J win the title and hold onto it until Money in the Bank in July where he can lose the title to the Money in the Bank winner before leaving the company.
For this albeit short return by Jericho in the first part of 2012, it would be good for the WWE to give him even a short title run with the World Title to help make this return a success this year.
With his fourth straight championship opportunity on pay-per-view coming up this Sunday, do you believe that Jericho will walk out with the World Heavyweight Championship or once again leave empty handed?
