Dangi becomes an honorary member of the Rabbitohs
Sam Burgess, one of the five team captains, presented Dangi with an honorary membership to the South Sydney Rabbitohs NRL team.
Sam Burgess is from England and is the middle of three brothers who all play for the Rabbitohs.
The membership card was about the same size as Dangi himself.
Dangi then had his photo taken with the team. Fitzy and Wippa interviewed Matt King (another of the team’s captains) about meeting Dangi. They joked that his ‘afro’ was bigger than Dangi!
Dangi’s time in Sydney so far
Dangi arrived in Sydney on Sunday evening and was greeted by excited fans
. So far his schedule has included:
Monday: In the morning Dangi met the media at the Opera Bar, just outside Sydney Opera House. Then he went to Wild Life Sydney at Darling Harbour and got to see a baby possum, koalas, kangaroos and a snake.
Tuesday: Dangi visited the Sydney Aquarium at Darling Harbour - the first time in his life he has seen a live fish and live sharks! In the late afternoon Dangi visited Bondi Beach. Again, it was the first time in his life that he had ever been to a beach and he was a bit apprehensive about going too close to the sea.
Wednesday: Dangi went to the Sydney Tower Eye and tried out the 4D movie, wearing the special glasses. Dangi had a good view across the whole of Sydney.
Nova FM is the radio station that has organized Dangi’s visit to Sydney. Two of the radio presenters Fitzy and Wippa have acted as his guides and have been showing him the sights of Sydney.
There is even a catchy tune “Dangy, Dangy, Dangy, Dangy – the world’s shortest man”. The sort that people can’t get out of their heads even if they want to.
An amazing story to rival Slumdog Millionaire!
Seventy-two-year-old Dangi was only recently found to be the world’s shortest man in February of this year. Before that he had lived a simple existence in a village in Nepal and came from an uneducated family. He now finds that he has achieved superstar status and is treated as a celebrity wherever he goes!
