An "instructional" YouTube video promises to teach viewers how to wake up a 3-year-old from sleep without him becoming angry. The video posted by 'estebanreyes83' takes the "case study approach" with 3-year-old Kevin as subject of the study.
The poster of the YouTube explains: "This is my half little brother. The last time we woke him up in the car, he got so grumpy and cranky. And since he loves this kind of music (Nirvana's "Breed") we just had to try a new method. I think there are parents that can recognize this scene."
The video demonstrates that the safest method to wake up Kevin without getting him angry is to turn up the volume of Nirvana's "Breed" on the car stereo. The music seems to have a hypnotic effect on the little boy. MSN reports that as soon as he hears the music in his sleep, he turns in to the Nirvana drummer and begins playing the drums in his sleep as he drifts awake.
The method appears very effective for little Kevin but it remains to be shown that what it will work with other children. Perhaps the best way to apply this innovative method is to first find out what music you child loves best.
