reported that one victim was an airman from the Royal Air Force, the other a soldier from the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards.
A spokesman for the Helmand provincial police said the two men were killed when Afghan police opened fire at a joint Afghan-coalition compound, the Telegraph
reported. A police spokesman said the gunmen had been members of the Afghan National Police for a year.
However, according to the Daily Mail
, NATO said that operational reports indicated that the assailants were in fact insurgents dressed in police uniforms.
The two deaths came one day after a NATO soldier was shot dead by an assailant wearing an Afghan police uniform.
