Time has passed, things have changed, and people have been asking, what happened to the baby that made E-Trade a household name?
The
E-Trade baby has a name, it's Manolo Gonzalez and he isn't a baby anymore! Manolo made his television debut for E-Trade in 2007, sitting in front of a Web cam discussing investing and finance in an adult voice.
Different baby, same voice, that of comedian
Pete Holmes, who "TMZ" caught up with recently for a few quick questions, and a little humor. Manolo followed Gregory Michael Miller, E-Trades first baby in 2001, in his
first E-Trade commercial during Super Bowl XLII.
Information isn't available on how long the children contract with E-Trade, or how much they earn per commercial. Manolo
Gonzalez turned five last year, has moved on. He started kindergarten in 2011, and when he isn't at school Manolo is swimming, playing the piano, or with his little sister. Even though he is not doing E-Trade anymore, Manolo has a bright future in acting if he chooses to do so. Being bilingual in both Spanish, and English is an asset to his career, as
bilingual commercials, and films are becoming more popular.
Manolo Gonzalez was not the only E-Trade baby during his time, but seemed to be a favorite. Even when he was with other babies, he always seemed to
stand out. Manolo's appearance during Super Bowl XLII was so successful E-Trade went into its fifth consecutive year of advertising baby commercials during the game. A new baby has emerged, and the baby commercials continue.
Super Bowl 2012 started a new ad campaign for the E-Trade baby. The 2012 Super Bowl was the
first of a series of new ads planned for the year. The new ads will have the E-Trade Baby
interacting with people facing special life events that trigger a need to consider financial planning.
The birth for advertising with babies with E-Trade came when
Nicholas Utton Chief Marketing Officer for E-Trade approached "
Grey Group Advertising" looking for a successful marketing campaign for its company. The results as you would guess, have been a success which prompted E-Trade have its newest baby in a
first class promo which more or less depicts where E-Trade has gone since it aired its first baby commercial.
