It must have been a drag to have a tutor along on a world tour, on the set of a music video or dropping by on a day off from being a superstar singer. If it was a drag for Justin Bieber though, it isn't now as he has officially graduated high school.
The Canadian superstar, 18, has had to do the tutor thing for his career to date, having left regular school at 15 to pursue a career in the States. He has put in countless hours to gain his high school diploma and while he doesn't need it - he's worth millions and has a bit of a career going already - it was something he wanted. In a recent interview he told The Telegraph in the U.K. that he really has his Mom to thank, she wanted it to happen and kept pushing him to make certain it would.
"I just finished high school. I passed my test - I'm free!" Bieber said. "It was hard work doing school and work every day...(It) was something my mom really wanted me to do."
Justin Bieber: Intelligent, insightful
Bieber's grades in school before he moved to the States to pursue life as a singer were strong. Further, his lyrics, arguably a window into the way he thinks and the kind of intelligence he has, are not all 'boy meets girl' but do suggest he is insightful and knows a bit about writing techniques.
But make no mistake about it, Justin Bieber's not about to give up being a pop singer to seek an academic career. "I mean this kind of lifestyle has given me a different perspective on life," he said about being an entertainer. "I've been able to travel the world. At school, usually you have to do a lot of writing and reading (and) I'm really not into that stuff.
"I like to be out there."
