article imageCarrie Underwood hits the road

By Tim O'Brien     May 6, 2012 in Entertainment
Simon Cowell himself said Carrie Underwood will "not only win this contest" she will go on to sell more records than any other American Idol.
He was talking about Underwood during the title run for her on the popular TV show. Cowell hit the nail on the head with that one and now, with the release of her new album, "Blown Away," she is ready to hit the road - again.
Her tour will stop in Moline, Il at the iWireless Center in November and then the United Center in Chicago in December. With many shows, however, one needs to make those plans early as tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, May 11.
Here, Carrie talks about her ride so far, most notably, her stint on "American Idol."
"I’m very happy in my life, and I count my blessings every day. Seven years ago when I decided to try out for American Idol," Said Underwwod. "My life changed completely in the blink of an eye. I went down a different train track and took off at about a million miles per hour. I feel like I’m still learning. In the beginning, it was like, ‘Oh, I have a No. 1. That’s awesome!’ I didn’t really understand what that meant," added Underwood.

As an ACM Entertainer of Year award winner, it puts her in rarefied air. She was the the first female winner to ever win the award twice. She is only the seventh female to be awarded. She also received the ACM Triple Crown Award, which has been won by only one other female artist - Barbara Mandrell in 2004.
Underwood talks about her hit singles. "‘Jesus, Take The Wheel’ and ‘Before He Cheats’ were No. 1 for several weeks, and that doesn’t happen often, but I had no idea. I realize now what hard work it actually is, and I feel like I can appreciate those victories even more."
Again, tickets for the area show go on sale on Friday, May 11. A final note from Underwood perhaps will make that ticket buying decision a bit easier.
"Touring is more fun because I know what it’s like to headline a tour. I feel like I’m able to be more and more creative all the time. I always feel like I’m taking steps forward."
