The Dallas Mavericks were eliminated Saturday evening. This was an embarrassing series as the 2011 NBA champions were swept by the young Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Oklahoma City Thunder won this game by a score of 103-97. James Harden, a candidate for the 6th man of year led the Thunder with 29 points. Dirk Nowtizki of the Dallas Mavericks scored 34 in the losing effort.
The Oklahoma City Thunder and the Dallas Mavericks also met in the 2011 Western Conference Finals. The Mavericks won that series in 5 games.
This was the first time since 2007 that a defending NBA champion was swept in the first round as the Miami Heat lost 4 consecutive games to the Chicago Bulls in that series.
