Lionel Messi has reached yet another milestone in his young career. In the eyes of many, the South American footballer is already the greatest of all-time.
After scoring breaking Gerd Muller's 67 goal record for most goals in a season a few days ago, the Argentinian reached another high point in his career.
Messi scored his 70th goal in a penalty kick in the 64th minute against rivals Espanyol. Barcelona won the game 4-0. All four goals were scored by the Argentinian, totalling his goal total to 72 in the 2011-2012 season. Messi scored all these goals in only 58 appearances.
Barcelona however will still be disappointed as they failed to capture both the Champion's league and the national championships. Arch rivals Real Madrid won the domestic title this year.
Messi will look to increase his goal record as Barcelona will face Real Bettis on May 13th and Athletic Club on May 25th to finish their somewhat heartbreaking season.
