More than 20 bodies were discovered in Nuevo Laredo. The dead bodies were found on Friday, and some of the bodies were decapitated.
Mexican authorities say that 23 bodies were found in Nuevo Laredo. Nuevo Laredo is across the border from Laredo, Texas.
According to the New York Times, 9 of the bodies were discovered hanging from a bridge. The remaining bodies were found decapitated and inside a van.
According to MSNBC, police couldn't confirm who committed the murders. There was a message found with the bodies, and the message indicated that an organized crime group may have been responsible for the murders.
According to NPR, the message said that the victims belonged to a drug cartel and were responsible for planting a car bomb right outside of a police station last month.
A military official did say that it is believed that the murders were related to an organized crime group. The official did say that they cannot speculate.
