Vancouver - The travel website TripAdvisor published on May 1 the ranking of the 2012 Travelers’ Choice Destinations Awards. Several lists evaluate cities by regions and by countries as chosen by travelers. The city of Vancouver occupies the top spot in Canada.
On May 1, the website TripAdvisor announced the winners of its 2012 Travelers’ Choice Destinations Awards. The travel and tourism website considered the popularity of 440 destinations worldwide, based on millions of reviews and opinions posted on the site by travelers. There is a ranking of 25 Top World Travel Destinations, and separate rankings for several regions and countries across the world including Africa, Asia, Canada, China, Mexico, South America, and the United States.
The three top world travel destinations are London, New York City and Rome. In the United States the three top choices were New York City, San Francisco and Chicago. In Canada the list is headed by Vancouver, British Columbia. In a brief description of the city’s attractions TripAdvisor writes:
“Check out the Victorian architecture in Gastown, take a kayak out on English Bay or explore Stanley Park. The elevated Sky Train is a great way to view the city. Foodies should make a beeline for the Granville Island Public Market. And don't leave town without trying dim sum in Vancouver's Chinatown."

The second place as a favorite destination in Canada, according to TripAdvisor’s contributors, is Montreal. Toronto occupies the third place in the ranking. The list of top ten travel choices in Canada is completed by Quebec City, QC (4), Victoria (5) and Whistler (6) in British Columbia, Calgary, AB (7), Ottawa, ON (8), Banff, AB (9) and Niagara Falls, ON (10).
