British news site MailOnline reports
that Lenami Godinez, 27, fell on the tandem hang gliding trip on Saturday afternoon on Woodside Mountain in British Columbia
She was flying with a professional instructor hired by the couple.
Canadian news site The Globe and Mail
reports Jason Warner, a hang gliding safety expert who arrived at the scene as saying that the pilot told him:
He felt there was something wrong within seconds from launch. He tried to grab her, he tried to grab her harness, everything he could, wrapped his legs around her and she slipped down his legs and then fell.
MailOnline report Ms. Godinez was located seven hours after the tragedy. One of the instructor’s shoes she was said to be clinging to before she fell was found 60 feet away. The authorities are considering the possibilities of pilot error or equipment failure.
