NEW YORK - According to an AP report, a man, three women and three children riding in a van were killed when the van plunged off of a road near the Bronx Zoo in New York City.
Reportedly, victims include an 84-year-old man; the three women, ages 80, 45 and 30; and three girls, ages 10, 12 and 7.
The AP article, quoting NYPD Fire Department Jim Long, states all of the victims were traveling in the same van.
The van was headed south Sunday afternoon on the Bronx River Parkway when it's driver lost control. According to the AP report, the vehicle glanced off a median, veered through all southbound lanes and crashed over the guardrail falling approximately 50 feet before final impact. No information on why the driver lost control or who was driving the van was available at press time.
The southbound side of the Bronx River Parkway was closed Sunday afternoon as an investigated was being conducted.
