Toronto - Students and teachers at Danforth Collegiate Institute and Technical School were evacuated this morning after a fire broke out at 10:20 a.m.
Constable Victor Kwong, Toronto Police Services, said during a phone interview that all of the students have been sent home today after the fire broke out.
"The call came in that a fire alarm was pulled in the drama room," Kwong confirmed this morning, "A school resource officer was at the school when the fire broke out and helped with the evacuation of the school."
Kwong said that the drama room is on the first floor and that fire is now on both that floor and the second floor.
There are unconfirmed reports that a firefighter was treated for smoke inhalation.
"There is black smoke coming out of the building," Kwong said.
Fire crews are at the scene battling the blaze.
