Christopher Delbert-Alexander Sanders wanted to help his recovering alcoholic mother in a big way. He chose to help her by dumping her alcohol collection, worth over $2,000 down the toilet.
Dealing with a relative that has an alcohol addiction is a very difficult thing. When the relative is your mother, the situation is often escalated into trying to do what is best for your mother. Having a family member so close with a problem, the natural feeling is that you need to do something to help. One woman's son, Christopher Delbert-Alexander Sanders, did just that.
After discovering his mother's collection of alcohol in the basement, he decided to take it upon himself to make sure the alcohol abuse does not continue. On April 23, 2012, Mr. Sanders posted a video on YouTube displaying him dumping out the rather large collection of bottles.
The video description reads:
Me pouring out my moms alcohol... Worth over $ 2,000 My mom is a recovering alcoholic ( Abuse of Alcohol ) with a condition that doctors say will kill her if she continues to drink and while I know I can't stop her from drinking I'll do anything I can to reduce her access to it. I really do love you mom and while seeing this might upset you, I know I had to do this. I just want the old you back.
The creator encourages others to join the discussion on his Facebook page.
On his Facebook page, the author is asked by a viewer if his mother knows about what he has done. He responds saying "Everyone in the family knows.. I dunno she hasn't called me yelling yet. It was meant as a message for when/if she decides to go into the basement to sneak some again."
Hopefully this measure is recognized by Mr. Sanders mother as an attempt to save her and bring the old her back, which is what he pleads for in the video.
