Compton - A former flight attendant was arrested Friday after police say he tried to steal an airplane from the Compton/Woodley airport in L.A. county.
Troy Daniel Long is in custody after trying to steal a plane at gunpoint early on Friday morning according to KTLA.
Police say that Long allegedly entered the office at the Compton airport and took keys for an airplane, when staff confronted him he then threatened them at gunpoint. The staff at the airport then called the police, who upon arrival noticed that the plane had not left. The two seater Cessna 152 was still connected to the tarmac and lurching back and forth according to Lieutenant Hocking of the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department.
Deputies surrounded the plane and Long turned off the engine and exited without incident, he was taken into custody by the F.B.I. according to KTLA on suspicion of airplane piracy.
CBS went onto report that Long is being housed at the Federal Metropolitan Detention Center.
