article imageCMT gives Carrie Underwood five nominations; show is June 6

By Tim O'Brien     Apr 23, 2012 in Entertainment
Nashville - Carrie Underwood is tops when it comes to the CMT Award nominations as they were announced live on The Today Show" this morning (April 23).
Underwood nabbed five nomination and Miranda Lambert grabbed four. One note to take away from this is there are only nine categories. Meanwhile, waiting until the 9 a.m. CST hour during "The Today Show," country fans were treated to the announcement with the help of Little Big Town. It was nice for them, too, as they grabbed one along the way. Along with Little Big Town, the award announcement was prodded along with Willie Geist and Hoda Kotb.
Now, by no means is this in the same award ballpark as the recently handed out Academy of Country Music Awards (ACMs) or the Country Music Awards (CMAs), but it is a party. The voting is done online and fans can head to cmt.com to get involved. With the big award of the night, there are 10 nominees and when the show starts, the Video of the Year will be paired down to five, live on the air.
At 11 years, this is a relatively young award show. The 2012 CMT Music Awards will air live from Nashville on June 6 on CMT and CMT.com.
What sets this one apart is the focus on the performance and the categories show that.
