George Zimmerman was released from jail after bond was posted early Sunday morning at the John E. Polk Correctional Facility.
Zimmerman was being held at the John E. Polk Correctional Facility since April 11, 2012 on charges of second-degree murder for the Feb. 26 shooting of Martin, 17, which could carry a life sentence if he is convicted.
Reports began to circulate just hours ago that George Zimmerman's bond was posted around midnight on Sunday. His location is unknown to the public, but he is currently under GPS monitoring by the Seminole County Sheriff's Department.
The website created by George Zimmerman, titled TheRealGeorgeZimmerman was updated twice since he was taken into custody. These updates include:
Update: As of April 15, 2012 - George greatly appreciates your thoughts, and donations. We are working on obtaining an update directly from George very soon
Update: As of April 20, 2012 - GZ hopes to be able to update the site in the next day or two, God willing. He sends his thanks for your thoughts and support
After a bond hearing on Friday, Zimmerman was granted a release on bail in the amount of $150,000 with a required bond of 10%, $15,000 down to secure his release. Mark O'Mara stated that Zimmerman would not likely get out of jail until next week, but surprised the nation as he was released from custody early Sunday.
Safety remains the primary focus for George Zimmerman and his family. Zimmerman is believed to have been wearing a bullet proof vest while leaving the jail. He was wearing a vest for the bond hearing on Friday as well.
