John McCain: 'Sorry Obama, my son's dog is not on the menu'

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) poked fun at Obama on Twitter Thursday afternoon. In a reference to the story about Obama eating dog meat as a child in Indonesia, McCain posted a picture of his son's bulldog, saying, "Sorry Mr. President, he's not on the menu!"

According to Mediaite, McCain, staunch Romney supporter, Tweeted a link to a Politico piece featuring an image of his son’s dog, with the comment: "Good pic of my son Jimmy's bulldog, Apollo - I'm sorry Mr. President, he's not on the menu!" Digital Journal reports that Romney supporters are reveling in a newly found opportunity to hit back at Obama supporters after having long endured accusations that Romney mistreated his Irish Setter Seamus during a 1983 trip from Boston to Ontario Canada. Romney was accused of mistreating the dog by strapping it in a carrier to the roof of the car. Recently, a blog post by Jim Treacher in The Daily Caller hit back by quoting an excerpt from Obama's memoir "Dreams From My Father," in which Obama wrote: "With Lolo, I learned how to eat small green chill peppers raw with dinner (plenty of rice), and, away from the dinner table, I was introduced to dog meat (tough), snake meat (tougher), and roasted grasshopper (crunchy). Like many Indonesians, Lolo followed a brand of Islam that could make room for the remnants of more ancient animist and Hindu faiths. He explained that a man took on the powers of whatever he ate: One day soon, he promised, he would bring home a piece of tiger meat for us to share." Treacher, writing in Daily Caller, said: "Say what you want about Romney, but at least he only put a dog on the roof of his car, not the roof of his mouth. And whenever you bring up the one, we’re going to bring up the other."
