Ibadan - Ibadan's nightlife does not aspire to compete with what major cities in the world offer night owls. Tourists seeking relatively risque night entertainment may find what the city offers rather tame.
However, for the average person seeking to unwind with a drink after a days work, Ibadan does well enough. What Ibadan offers mostly are outdoor pubs and nightclubs. Brothels dot the city but most are rundown backstreet hovels in seedy slum areas that serve a limited local clientele.
For visitors seeking nightlife entertainment in establishments providing relatively standard service, the city has two major hubs: The first centered around Orita challenge-Ring Road-Dugbe and the second in the Bodija-GRA area.

Here in Ibadan, outdoor pubs are the most popular because the tropical heat inclines people to seek outdoor entertainment where they can enjoy the late evening breeze. The pubs generally serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, light snacks, fast food and barbecue known to Nigerians as "suya."

To say that Ibadan's nightlife is tame is not to imply it is free of the common "vices" of nightlife. Bodija is acquiring notoriety for prostitutes who begin prowling the streets around L'Abode Hotel and before the Awolowo Avenue roundabout almost as soon as it is dark, and they are not lacking in patronage.
But overall, Ibadan's nightlife is best for relaxation, especially if drinking beer in the company of friends is what you care about most on an evening out. Nigerians love their beer and consume such large quantities that the alcoholic beverages manufacturing industry is one of the few immune to economic recession.
