Jessica Sanchez, a 16-year-old contestant in the current season of popular "American Idol" singing talent search TV show, was voted off by viewers Wednesday but she managed to survive when all three judges saved her from being eliminated.
Sanchez, together with another contestant Joshua Ledet were in the bottom three along with Elise Testone. As Sanchez was doing her last performance after host Ryan Secreast broke the sad news, Jennifer Lopez took the microphone and told Sanchez she's not going home because the
judges have agreed to save her.
The judges are only allowed to use the save once per season.
"Give me that mic! This is crazy! We're using the save. You ain't going home! Go sit down,"
Lopez told Sanchez as the 'Idol' crowd stood on their feet, cheering and applauding.
"We are saving
Jessica Sanchez without any doubt," said judge Randy Jackson. "Let me just say this. This girl is one of the best singers in America. Are you kidding me? Everybody please vote for the best! It's about finding the best!"
Sanchez seemed unaware of the judges' decision and wasn't surprised about the results of the voting.
"I don't expect anything. I just do what I do. Whatever happens happens, and I just want people to know that I've been working hard my entire life," she said.
American Idol's judges "save" option has only been used at least four times in its history and the celebrity judges have been praised for their decision to keep the talented Sanchez on the show at least until the next episode.
