article imageOp-Ed: Divas in the news — Alive and dead

By Alexander Baron     Apr 13, 2012 in Entertainment
Alexandra Burke is very much alive, although someone appears to want her dead. Another diva is dead, but is apparently still talking to her father.
Alexandra Burke is said to have hired police protection after receiving death threats over Twitter. It seems that more and more nutters are using social media for anti-social purposes. It remains to be seen if this individual is anything more than bluster, but maybe as a safety precaution she should stop singing. Permanently.
Rihanna's picture appeared in the Daily Star along with her claim that her mother would kill her if she ever posed naked. Elsewhere, she refused to answer questions about her love life, claiming to have had enough of this sort of thing. As long as she keeps her distance from Chris Brown, no one should be concerned.
The 911 call that led the emergency services to the hotel room of the tragic Whitney Houston has now been released, and her death ruled “not criminal”. The case is now closed, and perhaps the poor woman can be left to rest in peace.
Finally, the father of Amy Winehouse says he talks to his daughter through a psychic. Amy Winehouse died aged only 27 in July last year. There ought to be a law against this sort of thing. Hey, there is, it's called the Fraudulent Mediums Act 1951. It can't be difficult for one of these charlatans to cold read a man like Mitch Winehouse and feed back information about his daughter to him, certainly when one considers how much information there is about the diva in the public domain. Alas, like most of us he will hear what he wants to rather than what he needs to.
