article imageVideo: Woman strips naked at Denver International Airport

Denver - There was some confusion at Denver International Airport on Tuesday morning when a woman caught illegally smoking a cigarette at the departure gate stripped naked in the full view of everyone, as though she thought officials had asked for a strip search.

Fox31 Denver reports that DIA spokeswoman Jenny Schiavone, said the incident happened at about 8.45 a.m. inside the airport's Concourse B, gate 81, in a no-smoking area. After the woman had stripped, she asked casually for a reprint of her boarding pass. She stood totally in the nude with her back to the check-in-deck and her clothes in a pile by her side. A fellow passenger standing close by averted his eyes.
According to Fox31 Denver, a witness said: "Most were shocked. No one really noticed her at first because people were trying to get to their planes. Then, everyone realized she was just standing there completely naked."
She stood naked for about 20 minutes before hospital officials took her to the hospital for psychiatric assessment. Airport officials were baffled at her behavior, and it was not clear why she stripped. Huffington Post reports Denver police spokesman Sonny Jackson, said it appeared the woman had some sort of "breakdown" that had nothing to do with being asked to put out her cigarette.
According to Huffington Post, this is not the first time a person has stripped at an airport. But most cases were in protest of TSA procedure. Tammy Banovac, a 52-year old wheelchair-user from Oklahoma, stripped down to black lingerie to get through security at Will Rogers World Airport in 2010. In November 2010, a college student stripped down to a Speedo to protest TSA pat downs.
According to Daily Mail, Denver police said the woman was not arrested, and she will not face any charges.
