It appears that the doctor was in the throes of a nervous breakdown. He apparently had a 3-hour wait to get his car repaired and this was just the final straw. He then completely lost it and went on a rampage.
reports that the 35-year old doctor crashed into the packed storefront of the Pelican auto dealership in Northern Moscow and then used his Suzuki Grand Vitara as a battering ram to smash into the cars on show.
For 3 minutes, the doctor backed out and smashed into the auto shop repeatedly, destroying the vehicles and other fittings in the shop.
Originally the store's manager thought he had accidentally slammed on the accelerator instead of the brakes, but when the car kept coming, he was worried that the intruder was a terrorist with a car bomb.
Eventually the car broke down and security guards smashed the driver's side window and pulled him out. They then hog tied him.
The doctor cried for help, said he had a problem and told them that he was a doctor and had two children. He told those around him to call the police, which naturally they did under the circumstances.
Three brand new cars were destroyed in the incident along with everything on the showroom floor. Fortunately, the support beam holding up the second floor did not come down, despite the beating that it took in the incident. The auto shop is in a shopping plaza and if the floor had come down, untold damage may have been caused.
The doctor now faces up to five years in prison for his rampage and is under house arrest.
