International singing sensation Charice has won the Nickelodeon’s 2012 Kids’ Choice Awards (KCA) held in a ceremony last March 31 at the University of Southern California Galen Center in Los Angeles
Charice, who hails from the Philippines, bested Indonesian singer Agnes Monica, South Korean girl group Wonder Girls, and Malaysian musician Yuna.
Other entertainers who won in the 2012 KCA include Selena Gomez for Favorite Female Singer and Favorite TV Actress, Justin Bieber for Favorite Male Singer, Taylor Lautner for Favorite Buttkicker, and Tim Tebow for Favorite Male Athlete.
Popular entertainer Taylor Swift was also one of the winners and was handed an award by the US First Lady Michelle Obama.
Celebrities and fans have have sent their congratulatory messages to the young singing star for her new prestigious award. Among the celebrities who greeted her are Lea Salonga, Reggie Lee and TV host Kat de Casro.
Charice became a household name in the US and Asia when she appeared in the sitcom "Glee" in 2010. She said she was originally scheduled to appear again in the succeeding episodes of the Fox popular comedy musical show.
Charice had recently completed her Asian concert tour with her musical coach David Foster. The tour was a certified hit in five Asian countries including a sold out show in her native Philippines
The 19-year old Filipino singing star considers Oprah as her main career adviser and a very close family friend having served as her godmother during her church baptism two years ago.
