HBO has just released the trailer for its new summer drama series "The Newsroom." The Aaron Sorkin creation takes a behind-the-scenes look at the everyday drama experienced by fictional cable TV news anchor Will McAvoy.
Sorkin's new HBO series follows the life and trials of trusted news anchor Will McAvoy played by Jeff Daniels as he struggles to suppress his opinion and temper on and off the air.
The trailer highlights the trouble McAvory has with keeping his feelings in check when asked a certain question by a young woman during a grueling on-stage question and answer session.
"Can you say why America is the greatest country in the world?" The woman asked. McAvory harshly replies after going on a rant about America's declining status in the world. "When you ask what makes us the greatest country in the world, I don't know what the f---- you're talking about!"
Soon after, the news anchor finds himself in the middle of a firestorm with his his career seemingly spinning out of control when video of the interview hits the internet and goes viral.
"The Newsroom' also stars actors John Gallagher Jr, Allison Pill, Olivia Munn, Dev Patel, Thomas Sadoski and Emily Mortimer with recurring guest spots by Jane Fonda.
Aaron Sorkin, arguably best known for creating the hit TV show "The West Wing" also has had major success as a playwright along with writing for the motion picture industry, most notably such movies as "A Few Good Men," "The American President" And "Malice."
HBO has reportedly ordered the first 10 episodes and is set to premier the series on Sunday, June 24.
