article imageAdam Sandler and his 'Jack and Jill' sweep the Razzies with 10

By Tim O'Brien     Apr 2, 2012 in Entertainment
He may have won a Kids' Choice Award for favorite actor Saturday night, April Fools Day turned into quite a joke for Adam Sandler when the Razzies were announced.
Between him and his film, "Jack and Jill," a whopping 10 Razzies were given to this 2011 film, which "honor" the worst in films.
When one looks at that number, records surely fell, right? Yes, but first, the 10 for one film, no matter the award show, is impressive. "Titanic," "Ben Hur," and "The Lord of The Rings" finale, all won 11 Oscars for a record. To think he and his film were one win away from hollowed ground. Even Al Pacino got one for this film.
As for a record, no film has ever won in every category at the Razzies. Perhaps a sigh of relief for others which were nominated. By the way, Adam Sandler and the film had one more nomination than awards with 11. Had he won all 11 he would have tied those most honored Oscar films.
"Bucky Larson"
"Jack & Jill"
"New Year's Eve"
"Transformers: Dark of the Moon"
"Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part I"
Notes: A great list of bad here, but the right film won.
Russell Brand, "Arthur"
Nicolas Cage, "Drive Angry"/"Season of the Witch"/"Trespass"
Taylor Lautner, "Abduction"/"Twilight"
Adam Sandler, "Jack & Jill"/"Just Go With It"
Nick Swardson, "Bucky Larson"
Notes: When they throw in another film, that is a curve ball. Russell Brand could have easily took this one. he butchered what people know and love as "Arthur."
Martin Lawrence, "Big Momma's: Like Father Like Son"
Sarah Palin, "Sarah Palin: The Undefeated"
Sarah Jessica Parker, " I Don't Know How She Does It"/"New Year's Eve"
Adam Sandler, "Jack & Jill"
Kristen Stewart, "Twlight"
Notes: As old as acting itself is playing female characters and it is a hoot, right? Nope. Not always.
Patrick Dempsey, "Transformers: Dark of the Moon"
James Franco, "Your Highness"
Ken Jeong, "Big Mommas"/"Transformers"/"Zookeeper"
Al Pacino, "Jack & Jill"
Nick Swardson, "Jack & Jill"/"Just Go With It"
Notes: His Oscar win for "Scent of a Woman" was just a career award, so have fun with this one.
Katie Holmes, "Jack & Jill"
Brandon T. Jackson, "Big Momma's: Like Father Like Son"
Nicole Kidman, "Just Go With It"
David Spade, "Jack & Jill"
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, "Transformers: Dark of the Moon"
Notes: Two from "Jack and Jill" here and it was Spade and rightfully so.
"Bucky Larson"
"Jack & Jill"
"New Year's Eve"
"Transformers: Dark of the Moon"
"Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part I"
Notes: And the truth is, "New Year's Eve" was horrible so what an honor for this win.
Michael Bay, "Transformers: Dark of the Moon"
Tom Brady, "Bucky Larson"
Bill Condon, "Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part I"
Dennis Dugan, "Jack & Jill"/"Just Go With It"
Garry Marshall, "New Year's Eve"
Notes: Dugan is consistent, at least. Two films here get the nod.
"Bucky Larson"
"The Hangover: Part 2"
"Jack & Jill"
"Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part I"
Notes: Many probably thought "Jack and Jill" was an original but to name what it was based on would be unfair.
Nicolas Cage & Anyone
Shia LeBeouf & Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, "Transformers"
Adam Sandler & Jennifer Aniston/Brooklyn Decker, "Just Go With It"
Adam Sandler & Katie Holmes/Al Pacino/Adam Sandler, "Jack & Jill"
Notes: Hands down, a no-brainer because to think about this one would make your head explode.
Bucky Larson"
"Jack & Jill"
"New Year's Eve"
"Transformers: Dark of the Moon"
"Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part I"
Notes: There was a screenplay. No way.
