A Tibetan protester has been severely burned after setting himself alight in a demonstration in New Delhi ahead of a visit by the President of China.
A Tibetan born demonstrator self-immolated himself today and was severely burnt in a demonstration condemning China's policies over Tibet reported The Huffington Post, The Daily Mail and The Independent today.
He was named Jamphel Yeshi, he has lived in New Delhi since escaping from Tibet in 2006. The rally demonstration he was part of was campaigning for a Free and independent Tibet.
Yeshi burned himself near the Indian Parliament where the Chinese President Hu Jintao is due to visit for a summit meeting later this week. He ran some 50m before collapsing, several of his fellow protesters struggled to quench the flames with water and Tibetan flags.
He was treated for severe burns in a hospital in the Indian capital, he has sustained burns on 98% of his body and his condition has been described as critical.
30 Tibetans have self-immolated themselves since the beginning of this year in protest of China's rule over their country, the Dalai Lama has blamed China's brutal and ruthless repressive policy, China on the other hand asserts that the Dalia Lama is just instigating trouble.
